Portia J. Lino - Profile
Portia J. Lino, a freelance writer living in Honduras, has written weekly columns on topics ranging from Top 40 Music to HIV/AIDS, and operated a successful bath and body business in the United States. However, it took a move to Honduras, the first time leaving the United States in 20 years (she has lived in the Philippines and Germany as a child), to realize what her passion is: developing programs to improve the condition of people's lives. She has initiated a toy drive for more than 250 poverty stricken children who would otherwise have been ignored during the Holidays, as well as an ongoing latrine project in a nearby village. Her proudest moment thus far is receiving a grant through the J. Kirby Simon Trust to renovate the dilapidated Nutrition Ward at a local public hospital.
Portia holds a B.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism with a Minor in Psychology, and an A.A. in Behavioral Science. She is also certified as a Computer Technician.
