Pat Maitland

Pat Maitland is a writer, researcher, television producer and nature lover. When not writing scripts, magazine articles or developing television series, she is likely in a canoe talking to chickadees and scanning the skies for raptors.

Starting off in the record business (Kim Mitchell, The Box, Andy Curran, Eric Anderson and the Holly Cole Trio), Pat moved to live television as a talent wrangler - The Right Honourable Governor-General, Right Said Fred ("I'm Too Sexy"), and Sherri and Lambchop ("Don't touch the sock!") - and hasn't looked back since.

She has produced television series and segments about gardening, literature, health, parenting, technology, disabilities, and home makeovers for YTV, TVO, HGTV, Vision, Prime Network, TV One, (US) Discovery (US), Home and Leisure (UK). Documentaries include The Golden Years, A Difference of Abilities, and Kim Cattrall's Sexual Intelligence for HBO (during which Maitland was praised by director Catherine Annau for giving "good phone"). She writes TV series treatments for independent production companies (Holmes Productions, Prime Vista Television, Sharper Image Television, Fusion Television, AJE Productions) to be pitched to international broadcasters.

Periodical writing credits include Cottage Life and Toronto Life and Gardening Life magazines, suggesting if there's a Life in the title, she'll write for it. Subjects range from personal profile features, service journalism (retail and service industries) and how-tos.

Toronto-born and raised, Pat graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, studied with the Second City Improv workshops in Toronto and now lives in Peterborough, Ontario, mere blocks away from the Canadian Canoe Museum. She has recently jumped with both feet into the acting community, working with the Peterborough Theatre Guild (As Clouds Roll By, Twelfth Night) and the 24-Hour Project.
