Clive Maxwell PresttSuite101 Member My main field of interest is in road and cross-country running training, and training for the 5000 metres and 10,000 metre races on the track too - long distance running. This also extends to training for the half-marathon and full marathon. At the age of 17 I finished 7th in the English and Welsh Inter-Counties Youths Cross-Country Championsip in Derby, and 7th again aged 19 as a Junior. In March 1976 I came 20th in the All-England Schools Cross-Country Championsip Cross-Country Championsip in Havant, near Portsmouth. In December 1976 I was an Oxford Blue for cross-country, and got a Blue on the track for the 3000 metres steplechase (PB 9 mins 19 secs). I got chronic Achilles tendonitis, had two sets of operation in 1978 and 1979, got back to running again in 1979-80, did 14.46 for the 5000 metres in August 1980, and then got injured again, and then didn't take running up again till 1984. In 1985 I went to work in Italy, and stayed until 1992. There are several categories of runner in Italy - 'agonisti' are bettter and some of these are semi-profesional: and 'amatori'who are supposed to be amateur. In 1988 I was Champion of Italy for men aged 30 - 35 for the 3000 metres indoor, cross-country, and road racing. As a result, in 1989 I got sponsored $1400 a year by G.S Gillardo and ran well in the spring and summer of 1989 doing my personal best for the 10,000 metres in April of that year - 30 mins 39 secs, and for the 5000 metres in June - 14 mins 38 secs. I coached three guys whilst living in Italy, one of whom contacted me in 2001 for a training schedule to prepare for a half-marathon in which he ran well. I was a teacher of Geography and English as a Foreign Language for twelve years, and had a period of a year as an adminsitrator, plus some experience of data entry on the PC and producing invoices for customers from the PC. Since April 1999 I have been working for the local evening newspaper collecting money - for nearly tree years, but my main thrust is that I am studying for an MCP in IT and Software Support, as well as needing to finish four assignments for a BTEC National Computer Studies qualification, which is the equivalent of two 'A' levels (High School leaving qualifications aged 18 in United Kingdom, for Small and Medium sized business' computing needs. ). So I have become very computer litrate. My other interests include reading novels, coin and stamp collecting, walking in the countryside, watching sports (particularly soccer) on televison, and I am teaching myself how to play chess too. Web Sites I find useful include as a search engine: www.dogpile.com www.ask.co.uk For computer hardware reviews, drivers, .dll files: www.pctechguide.com www4.tomshardware.com www.bootdisk.com www.driversguide.com For travel: www.travelocity.com For street maps; www.streetmap.com www.multimap.com |
