Pamela Tyree-Gavin - Profile

I am Pamela Tyree-Gavin but close friends call me "nut"!This is due to my irreverent sense of humor-since I find most things funny in life. I am in my forties and happy to have gotten this far!!

I am the mother of two sons of whom I am very proud. For over 12 years I have worked in the insurance field in varying capacities;Claims Adjuster, Supervisor, Fraud Coordinator and most recently as an Adjuster working from home. In January 2000, I took a severance package from my job and have decided to devote my time to making my avocation (writing) my vocation!

I am a voracious reader, often reading two or more books at the same time. I am also a published writer, with a focus on the biographical article as well as the short story. I have volunteered as a reader for the blind, a Big Sister, and as a public School Reader in the Elementary Schools. Most recently I became a certified Hospice Volunteer- the thing which I felt "called" to do. I have tried to be an example to those who know me especially for my children who watch everything I do.

My formal education is ongoing: I have most recently attended Syracuse University in the ISDP program working towards a degree in Liberal Arts. I can't tell you how far I am away from that since I just requested my transcript! My estimate is that I have two years in. However,if you count the math component, I haven't even started college yet let alone finished!! :)

Although separated, I enjoy a unique friendship with my ex-husband. He is still one of my best friends. We feel that maintaining a good relationship will only enhance the boys' perception of life. Even our mutual significant others have become part of our extended family.

I try to look on the bright side of things as "Polly Anna - ish" that may sound. I have definite ideas about life and about death and I fear neither. And particularly as a woman of color, my life experience has been one I would not trade for anything in the world. There is always something new to see and to do!
