A lifelong athlete and fitness enthusiast, Northwestern University graduate (‘06) Nicole Adamson has been writing about endurance sports since 2005, when she spent six months as an intern for Chicago’s Windy City Sports magazine. Adamson quickly developed an addiction for running, completing her first marathon in 2005. Since then, she has completed numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons and multi-day relays.
Upon earning her degree in journalism, Adamson worked for the Detroit Media Partnership, where she served as the associate editor for Vital, a health and fitness magazine, and Strut, a women’s magazine. She also managed the production of special sections and custom publications for The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press.
Within two years, Adamson discovered her abundant energy was no match for cubicle culture. She left the DMP in 2009 to pursue a career in freelance writing and personal training and is currently studying at the National Personal Trainer Institute in Chicago.
Adamson is currently engaged in a six-month battle with patellofemoral syndrome, a knee-tracking injury that began during fall marathon training, and spends much of her free time researching alternative treatments for running injuries.
