Amy Orozco considers herself one of the luckiest people on earth having had the good fortune to live and work in Japan for five years after graduating from San Francisco State University with a degree in creative writing. She used the overseas opportunity to hone her travel skills by seeing the Asian continent country by country. Amy enjoys seeing the sites, but doesn’t consider herself a “sightseer.” Rather than seeing a destination from a cushy, air-conditioned bus, Amy prefers using local public transportation, shopping like a resident, and dining with the natives. She is a firm believer that travel doesn’t require loads of money—always low on cash herself she’s living proof!—and feels it is her mission to help others see the world. There’s no destination this intrepid traveler isn’t interested in, and given enough time Amy plans to see the entire world. For now, her expertise and experience are grounded in Asia, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the West Coast of North America. Writing stints of Amy’s include a weekly columnist for the Santa Barbara News-Press, editor of Carpinteria Magazine, managing editor of Coastal View News, editor of Tinta Latinamagazine, ghostwriter, and content provider for a number of national Web sites, among others. Her volunteer hours are dedicated to helping nonprofit groups, such as a feral cat organization and a peace & social justice group, with publicity and media outreach. |
