Recent Blog PostSunday Spotlight Blog: Funds for Writers
This week's tip for freelance writers: check out Funds for Writers, a great website with tons of leads for jobs, grants, and contests!
Michelle is a musician and freelance writer just trying to see the world while doing what she loves for a living. After graduating from the University of North Texas with a degree in music education, Michelle taught band in Texas for four years. A two week trip to Brazil, studying various forms of Brazilian music in a series of masterclasses in Salvador, Rio, and Sao Paolo left Michelle with a desire to live in the land of samba. Michelle and her husband spent a year in Salvador relaxing on the beach and attending as many concerts as possible, followed by a year in South Korea eating kimchi and braving the winter. In addition to traveling and writing, Michelle plays the steel drum in several bands and is an aspiring novelist. She is the editorial assistant for MatadorGoods, part of the popular online magazine MatadorTravel. Michelle is also a writer for TheiPhoneAppReview, where she happily plays with iPhone apps and writes reviews. A blog addict, Michelle maintains three blogs. Her personal blog about music, writing, and travel can be found on her website, MusicTravelWrite. She also keeps a travel blog with Matador Travel. In the spring of 2009, Michelle and a group of fellow aspiring novelists from different parts of the world started a blog for anyone interested in Young Adult literature. Now yaHighway has a regular readership spanning six continents. Michelle, her husband, and their chocolate lab Adi are planning on relocating to New York City in the fall of 2009. |
