Recent Blog PostLife Changing Books: The Diet Delusion by Gary Taubes
As a result of reviewing Gary Taube's Diet Delusion and my understanding of its analysis of nutritional science I made some small changes to my eating habits; I have not gone on a diet. In 9 weeks I have lost 12lbs and have not left myself feeling hungry.
As a long-time writer Martin writes on an eclectic mix of subjects which have included yachting, photography, personal finance, cars, travel, computing as well as small and professional business management. His writing reflects Martin's wide-ranging experience and passions; he has been a car buff since the early 1960s, a yachtsman - he captained his university sailing team and built racing dinghies professionally. Here on Suite101 Martin is indulging his interest in books and learning through his work on reviewing and commenting on Reference and other books. he also is using a long held interest in cars and motoring to write on Sports and Classic Cars. He has written three books: The Information Edge; Getting the Most from Consultants; Creating and Developing a Consultancy Practice. He is currently working on several more book ideas including a novel and has several column ideas that he will try out here on Suite101. Martin is a member of The Society of Authors and a Fellow of the RSA. These books reflect Martin's experience as an interim program director and consultant on IT and business change project management. He has worked internationally, for large corporates and the UK government on large scale and complex programs; often with elements of turnaround or rescue. Always with complex stakeholder management challenges. he operates through Solidus Ltd based in Nottingham, England. Martin has an interest in creativity and innovation. He finds he is better at learning than being taught which has enabled him to develop his career wherever interest took him and wonders what mechanism makes him "intellectually different" as described by a colleague! Before that he was a full time sports photographer but now concentrates on stock photography for various libraries, including his own: M-dash, for whom he provides travel and conceptual imagery. |
