Marie Botkin

I am a college professor and I teach and write on textiles, historical fashion and green consumer practices. I have a a Ph.D. in Design and a B.A. in French. I have spent a lot of time in the South of France doing research, smelling lavender and eating ratatouille.

I have many interests aside from my professional experience and consider myself a true Francophile. I adore the history and culture of France, ranging from the ethereal designs of Gothic cathedrals to the day to day delights of French cuisine. My past writing has been focused on the history of fashion and I have written on medieval fashion and culture, the costumes of the National Popular Theatre and Lartigue, a 19th century fashion photographer.
