Recent Blog PostHow to be an effective manager
This blog describes the link between effective management, efficiency and organization.
I have worked over 32 years after getting my Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario in 1975. I had a few HR positions early in my career but have spent 25 years in management consulting. I have been self-employed since 1994. My work focuses on management assessment and development, also executive coaching. I love writing, having completed 3 books and numerous articles on management topics, plus 3 websites. I am most pleased with my articles and book on leadership, most especially my book - Burn! 7 Leadership Myths in Ashes. The title is a bit brash but the content strongly challenges conventional thinking about leadership. You should read it if you like fresh, radical ideas! My main writing interests focus on all aspects of leadership and management. This means everything to do with getting things done through people. I am also interested in self management, hence emotional intelligence, self esteem and personal effectiveness at work. I am an organizational psychologist, so less interested in the hard side of management: quality control, operational processes and customer service. My main website covers many of my interests and gets about 22,000 visitors a month - www.leadersdirect.com . |
