A member of the Suite101 team since April 2008, I've strived to help other writers improve their SEO and web writing skills. For the past decade, I've worked as a journalist and artist in the Boston area. At the early age of 16, I started my career as a full-time newspaper reporter. I ultimately became the editor at a daily newspaper in the Boston suburb of Wakefield. I worked in print for more than ten years, breaking an array of high-profile news stories, including the Edgewater Technologies office massacre, which captured the nation's attention when Michael "Mucko" McDermott gunned down seven co-workers on December 26, 2000 in Wakefield, MA. In spring 2008, I made the jump to broadcasting when I moved to Boston CBS affiliate, WBZ NewsRadio 1030, where I currently work as a producer and editor. I'm enjoying my new career in radio, which has enabled me to work with an award-winning team of reporters, anchors and writers. I launched my web writing career in 2007. I joined Suite101 as a Contributing Writer in April 2008. Within a few months, I was named to the position of Pet Care Feature Writer; a position that I held through April 2009 when I joined the Suite101 editorial team. I enjoy writing on a vast array of topics, my articles cover everything from pet care to reality television, to journalism and web writing. Animals are my true passion and I am a strong advocate for responsible pet ownership. I am a professional animal issues and pet writer, and as such, my work has appeared in an array of national magazine publications and websites. I've had the opportunity to interview "The Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan and PETA Founder Ingrid Newkirk, among many others. I also own and manage a pet pottery company, Piggy's Pet Pottery. I am owned by more than 20 rescued special needs animals, including five dogs, six cats, guinea pigs and birds, and I volunteer as a foster home for chronically ill or behaviorally-challenged pets. I offer an array of pet care advice on my new site, The Sick Dog Blog. And just for fun, I also have The Great Life Quotes and Sayings Blog.
