It's sweater season again as the air takes on the chill of fall. Activities begin to move indoors for many older people. Winter will be here soon, and that means many lonely hours for some seniors and their caregivers. Time to think about activities to keep an older person's mind and body active.
Mary King is a freelance writer, published novelist, and biographer. A versatile author of both fiction and non-fiction, her written work demonstrates exceptional knowledge and expertise in a variety of areas that include, but are not limited to, special needs parenting, physical medicine and rehabilitation, living with a disability, amateur photography, southern living, classical music, surviving teenagers, and coping with psychological disorders. She is a certified professional driver, has worked for the National Safety Council and Greyhound Lines, Inc. Her motivating articles, as well as her stories, are intended to expand the reader's knowledge and understanding of everyday living experiences, whether it's how to survive living in a hurricane state, budgeting for a family, or planning a wheelchair-accessible home. King lives in the United States where she grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. She began writing professionally ten years ago after working in two separate rehabilitation facilities. Currently, she has five published novels, one published short story, and a number of published magazine articles. Her knowledge and experience stem from a lifetime of personal experience, in-depth research, volunteer work, involvement with family and friends that are disabled, and exposure to a variety of medical conditions through care-giving. Mary King is a graduate of Jacksonville University (BS Psychology) and a single mother of five children. She currently resides in northwest Florida. |
