I'm the oldest of five. My mom and dad taught English and history, respectively, and they are the ones I need to thank for my love of reading which led naturally, I think, to my love of writing. When I was little, if I wasn't reading I was scribbling, and that's pretty much still the case to this day.

My parents also believed that travel is the most valuable educational experience you can have, so they took us abroad whenever they could and taught us to appreciate other cultures - especially the cuisines. Being Filipino, we love to eat. And talk. Many of our long and involved family discussions about literature, history, music, art or current events have taken place around the dining table.

The third and most important thing my parents taught me was to learn, love and live our faith and to respect the beliefs of others.

All of the above explains my varied interests and activities. I've written a textbook for ESL (English as a Second Language) students. I've been a contributing writer to the BC Catholic, the official newspaper of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver.

I've written for and edited the newsletters and promotional materials of various non-profit groups.

I've been cooking ever since I was old enough to see over the top of the kitchen table. My mom, my sister and I are constantly tweaking and trading recipes. I have binders of recipes and stacks of cooking magazines, all covered with my own notes.

I believe that the world is inherently good and that it is ours to discover. It's my pleasure to share some of my discoveries with you.
