<p>I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in sociology with the intention to eventually teach at the college level. My undergraduate work focused on sociology (in which I completed an honors thesis on 1960's student protest at liberal arts colleges) and on writing. I have been employed as a research and teaching assistant in courses on environmental history in Victorian England, the France of Les Miz, and computing applications in the humanities (GIS and web design). I have also been employed in the mutual funds industry in information technology. My hobbies include extensive reading and writing as well as cooking and bird-watching. I have served as Contributing Editor of the Higher Education section of Suite101 since August 2000.</p>
