Markus Redmond - Profile

McRed wearing his sunglasses in the daytime., Sean Ricigilano

Allow me to introduce my alter ego. Marc McRed is the guy who says the stuff I'm not supposed to say. See, me...I'm a nice guy. But this McRed character, he's got opinions about everything. He thinks American Idol killed music, that Vin Diesel is the greatest mastermind to ever make it in Hollywood, that Beyonce must be stopped, and for that matter, so does Will Smith. He's got dangerous ideas for reality shows, thinks he knows what's wrong with Hollywood in general and will thank you to never mention the words 'hip' or 'hop' in his presence.

I really don't know what went wrong. You see, this McRed character has seen some wonderful things through me. He's watched me grow up on television as an actor with regular roles in some of Steven Bochco's most acclaimed series during the 1990s. He watched me transition into a successful screenwriter and was there when I sold screenplays to Columbia Pictures. He's even seen the pagentry of flashbulbs and applause with me at the premiere of my very first starring feature film role and my very first produced screenplay at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. He knows that I'm busy putting the finishing touches on the novel I wrote during the WGA writers' strike, but he insists that I bring him here so that he can share his viewpoint with you.

I'd listen to him if I were you. He's getting all riled up now. It's creeping me out.
