Marc Bastow

While this is my first foray into writing on the web, I spent 3 years as a stringer sportswriter for the Gazette Newspapers in Montgomery County, Maryland. During this time I covered football, basketball, lacrosse and soccer for the paper, covering over 100 games in total. My expertise lies in the details and strategies across the sports, adding depth to the coverage beyond the x's and o's. Working with coaches before and after the game for insight and interviews helped add additional color and gave me credibility with them to discuss strategy and players.

As a basketball coach in the City of Rockville, my teams won 2 City Championships, one of them concluding an undefeated season. I've also coached (and played in college) soccer, so again have depth of knowledge across this subject.

Prior to the sports writing I ran a column in the Gazette Newspapers entitled "Slice of Life" a 3 year series of humor columns.
