Anna Cristofaro, a freelance makeup artist since 1999, began as an image consultant at a photographer's studio. "I became a makeup artist to help other women feel beautiful, at least externally," says the twenty-something. "I didn't realize until later on that I was doing it to conceal parts of myself." The Philippine-born, Canadian-raised writer says she had plenty of insecurities about her black hair and almond shaped eyes, seeing them as more alien than exotic. "I felt surrounded by blue eyed blondes. So all I wanted was to be a blonde with blue eyes, to look my complete opposite. But when I shed those anxieties about myself, I felt so free," Anna recalls. "It then became important to me to enhance the unique parts of a woman's face instead of altering them."
Anna has been an actor, singer, artist, writer, and radio host. Now also a mom, she is thrilled to join Suite101, where she is happy to be able to combine two of her passions: writing and beauty. She resides in Ontario with her husband and two boys, and is currently covering fashion and beauty for Living magazine in Windsor, Ontario.
