I am a published freelance writer who's written extensively on the subject of dogs, including a book entitled The West Highland White Terrier. Released in January 2006, it has sold well on amazon.com and was well-received by the West Highland White Terrier Club of America. In addition to many articles on the various aspects of dogs, I've written pieces, including essays, on other subjects, including music, literature, parenthood, and politics. Two of my essays on appear in Facts on File Companion to the American Novel (Companion to Literature), which came out in August of 2006.( I chose to analyze Theodore Dreiser's An American Tragedy and Booth Tarkington's Alice Adams.) A lifelong learner who looks forward to exploring new subjects such as food, geology, psychology, and the absurdities of human nature. I bring wit and and unconventional points of view to much of my writing. Although I write some fiction, including a novel-in-progress, non-fiction is probably my forte. I write the copy for Web sites, which I design-- I prefer simplicity with pithy and effective text-- and compose sales letters, brochures, advertisements, and even the occasional crossword puzzle. I dabble in graphic design, primarily through Adobe PhotoShop and have created a few themed online shops at Café Press, one of many of the print-on-demand venues. Born and bred in New York, I fled for Oregon in 1977 and haven't left yet! I received a B.A. in English from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. After graduation, I enrolled in classes in music and legal studies-- including one in private investigation. I have no idea what will catch my fancy next! My work has been published in Dog Nose News, Offlead Magazine, the Cairn Terrier of America (CTCA) Newsletter , and in several blogs, including my own. Hobbies include swimming, music, and yoga. |
