My name is Taylor Bennett, 25, and I am a freelance writer and reporter based in central Jersey. I have a B.A in Journalism from New Jersey City University and three years of professional experience in the field.
As a reporter, I have observed some of the social problems within the inner-city population. From researching and interviewing executives of youth empowerment organizations, group homes, services for dysfunctional families and child educational facilities, I learned that some of the inner-city youth make up part of the at-risk population.
Rights for people with disabilities, is an issue that I've studied while working for an institute for adults and children with disabilities called Hudson Milestone in Jersey City, New Jersey . Other topics I have written on include environmental pollution and music entertainment.
My most recent news story was on a protest held in Harlem NY against the NYPD. Two officers drove around in an unmarked car with a black doll's head on the antenna and nothing was done about it. The protest was led by NY State Senator Bill Perkins, NAACP President Hazel Dukes, residents and other officials.
I specialize in writing local news stories and features stories. My writing has appeared in private company web sites and publications, such as The Montclair Times, The Star-Ledger, The Gothic Times, NJN Studios and Horizon Community Development. As an intern, I have dipped into broadcast writing and produced segments and shows on News 12 New Jersey, and Fox and Friends on Fox News Channel.
I would like to share my thoughts on the increasing number of college gradates and the even greater demand for high paying jobs, parenting, which I am new to, cultural and spiritual topics, and the reflection of today's urban hip-hop generation.
