It is that time of year...Christmas! If you recall from last year, I did an extensive series on the history of Christmas traditions in Western Europe. What areas do you want to know more about this year?
I am a published freelance writer living in the beautiful foothills of Western Maine. Mom to four wonderful children, my passion for History began in the sixth grade, with a tattered copy of On The Banks of Plum Creek, by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I progressed to tawdry historical romances (Bertrice Small, anyone?) which only increased my interest in history. Following high school I went to earn a BA in History from the University of Maine at Farmington. Previously I worked as a high school social studies teacher, before deciding to try writing full time. Besides European History, I have taught World Geography, Ancient History, History of the Holocaust and World History. My biggest influences growing up were Laura Ingalls Wilder and my high school history teachers, Mr. Bessey & Mr. Bowdoin. I have always believed that history should be told as the great drama/comedy/tradgedy that it is. My print publishing credits include work in History Magazine as well as Mesa Verde Publishing. Most recently I have launched a new site at About.com, as their Restauranting Guide. You can view it at http://restaurants.about.com/. |
