Instead of giving you a chronological account of the various deeds and misdeeds of my ecclectic life, or listing my questionable accomplishments, I prefer to share with you some of my favorite quotes. For those of you who would like some real details about me, stay tuned to the end, I might just go all chronological on you after all, but be careful what you wish for! "I have measure out my life with coffee spoons." -T.S. Eliot "Never trust a skinny cook." -Unknown "My advice to you is get married: if you find a good wife you'll be happy; if not, you'll become a philosopher." -Socrates "You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from good ingredients." -Julia Child "Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils ..." -Louis Hector Berlioz "Everyone needs to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer." -Unknown "The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory." -Paul Fix "When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity." -Albert Einstein "What if everything is an illusion and nothing exists? In that case, I definitely overpaid for my carpet." -Woody Allen "A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing." -Emo Philips "The schools of rhetoric and philosophy are empty, but how full the kitchens!" -Seneca "Money doesn't make you happy. I now have $50 million but I was just as happy when I had $48 million." -Arnold Schwarzenegger "Always drink upstream from the herd." -Will Rogers Ok, here goes. About me, I am definitely a foodie - I graduated from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute in 2001 and I worked at some glamorous restaurants in Phoenix and on the Las Vegas Strip before opening the slightly-less-glamorous yet popular Broken Arrow Restaurant in Mt. Carmel, Utah. BAR is open only during the warmer months, so in past winters I returned to university and finished a philosophy and english degree. This winter I'm focusing on writing and also attending EMT classes. I train and ride pleasure horses and play cowgirl now and then. I come from a rodeo family - my dad was a bullrider and my mom was a rodeo queen, now they own and operate the Arrowhead Country Inn in Mt. Carmel. Aside from that, I studied for a semester in Bristol, UK, one of the best adventures of my life so far - tied for first with the 10 day, 400 mile, 800 cow, Heaton family cattle drive I worked this fall. Looking forward to some more adventures! Laura |
