Oversized Jewelry Trend

Gigantic jewelry can work miracles on an outfit. It can also create the illusion of a slimmer silhouette and lengthen the body, if worn well.

Gill Hart, Gill Hart

Gill’s globetrotting adventures have led her to living in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Her first career was in fashion retailing as a training and HR manager, and then formerly in education, as an academic director of language schools and teacher trainer for more years than she cares to remember. After a life-changing paradigm shift, she has now swapped the blackboard in favor of a pen (or notebook computer to be exact).

Becoming a freelance writer proved a wonderful turning point in her life, enabling her to use her knowledge, life experience and personal interests, plus her love of fashion and travel.

Gill rekindled her passion for fashion after reaching her 40s. She is a strong advocate of fashion for women who are no longer the right side of 25! There appears to her to be a huge gap in the market for fashionable, well-fitting styles for the middle-aged lady, as not every 40-something woman can be a size zero or wants to dress like their daughter or grandmother. She also tries very hard to adhere to her own style advice when it comes to learning to play up good bits and play down bad! Once a woman learns how to dress correctly it changes her life.

She can now also espouse, with confidence, the benefits of a capsule wardrobe and buying quality over quantity, having had a light bulb moment sometime ago. She has learnt some clever tricks in the beauty department and her writing covers such areas as perfumes that make you smell younger and sexier, the magical effects of red lipstick and the miracle properties of virgin coconut oil.

As a freelance writer she specializes in all things fashion, from designer labels, runway shows and the latest trends, to clothes to fit a particular body type, dressing to look slimmer, new (sometimes wacky) innovations in the fashion industry, and our copy-cat celebrity culture.

A firm believer in the fact that you are never too fat for your handbag, and the power of a pair of stilettos (especially if they happened to be Jimmy Choos), she is currently Suite 101’s feature writer for their Women's Fashion section.

Gill also writes for a number of women's fashion blogs including the dedicated handbag site, Handbags and Gladrags, which enables her to indulge in her fondness for Lulu Guinness bags. She is a regular fashion feature writer for The Islander magazine, has written for regional newspapers, and has been published in the UK’s Writing Magazine. She writes online newsletters, editor’s letters on demand and takes on the role of style advisor and agony aunt when required, also giving relationship and beauty advice.

Her travel writing enables her to revisit the areas she once (or still) lives, and pass on useful tips and insights. Ever grateful for the opportunity to live in foreign climes, on blogs and in print, she enjoys writing about her experiences and knowledge of other cultures; with each and every country (and its people) still having a place in her heart. She maintains that living abroad is a humbling and gratifying experience for those with an open mind.
