I have been a journalist for 20 years, currently freelancing from my home in Portland, Oregon. As an outdoor and nature lover, I particularly enjoy writing about outdoor adventures, day hikes, travel, natural history and ecology in Oregon and Washington. I’ve had the opportunity to attend many workshops and guided field trips on botany, forest ecology and Pacific Northwest wildlife habitats.
I worked for 10 years as a newspaper reporter on the Oregon Coast. As a freelancer, my work has appeared in a number of local, regional and national publications, including Transitions Abroad, Cousteau Society Dolphin Log, The Portland Daily Journal of Commerce Magazine, The Business Journal of Portland, The Herb Quarterly, Oregon Coast Magazine, and Portland-area newspapers The Sentinel and The Northwest Examiner.
I have won awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association and the Lane (County) Literary Awards program.
I have an English degree from Western Oregon State College.
