Linda A. Landon, Ph.D. is a research scientist turned freelance writer. She recognizes the importance of clearly communicating science to non-scientists. Non-scientists need to make informed decisions about science and to do that they need to understand science. Research and science are avocations for Linda - both are a passion and a profession. She knew she wanted to be a researcher at age 8. She originally wanted to be a marine biologist, which was a difficult field to pursue when living on a farm in Iowa where most fields have only corn or soybeans. She finally settled on molecular pharmacology, using the tools of molecular biology to understand how drugs interact with the human body. Linda also knows, to quote Mara Corday (Tarantula, 1959), that "Science is science but a girl has to have her hair done." In other words, there are too many things to enjoy in this world – family, literature, movies, pets - to spend all of your time on one subject, like science. Linda also writes about literature, movies, gardening, sewing, pets, and anything else that appeals to her. |
