Leslie Lindeman

Contributor

Leslie is an award-winning writer who has published hundreds of articles in dozens of national magazines and newspapers. He published his first piece in the Chicago Tribune at the age of 14.

He began his career as a journalist at the famous writer's training ground, The City News Bureau of Chicago. He later worked at small-town newspapers in Indiana.

He became a freelance magazine writer and published major pieces in LIFE, MODERN MATURITY, TV GUIDE, RUNNER'S WORLD, PREMIERE, THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE MAGAZINE, and others.

Leslie spent most of a 10-year period as a stay-home father and his screenplay, THE LAST REAL MAN, grew out of those experiences. The script has won two notable writing competitions and acclaimed filmmaker Wayne Wang (THE JOY LUCK CLUB) is on board to direct the movie.

Another product of his experiences as a father is a humorous but extremely practical cookbook he is writing for dads, and other potentially kitchen-challenged parents, called, "You Call This Dinner?" He is writing a companion web/TV series by the same name.

Among the lessons he learned from spending years with kids is that preserving childhood is essential in order for children to grow into strong, healthy, capable adults.

Protecting childhood isn't always easy, he says.

"That's why it's important for us to share information and continue learning how to do a better job raising our kids. It's the most important job we'll ever have."
