Nancie Metro - Profile

Hello to all readers! I can not remember a time that I haven't loved to read. Now I read with my children, read for master's classes I'm taking, and read for pleasure. In essence, I read as much and as often as I can and usually have several books I'm reading at the same time. I enjoy a wide variety of genres, including (but not limited to) classics, children's popular and classic fiction, mysteries, popular fiction, inspirational and religious writing, biographies and historical fiction and non-fiction.

Along with reading, I like to discuss literature and to write. I have been a member of three book groups, two of which I started, and now attend a group at the local library. I am currently completing a master's degree in humanities and literature from California State University, Dominguez Hills. This is a wonderful, external degree program requiring no on-campus residency. I hold a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University.

My greatest loves are the seven other people who live with me: my husband, Joe, and our six children, ages 15 to 1. Daily they provide me with lots of love and joy, as well as plenty of on-the-job learning.

I make time regularly for gardening and exercising. Tending our family's vegetable and flower gardens helps me connect with nature in a very elemental way. On my daily two-mile walk, I have time to meditate and ponder. When I have extra time, I enjoy family history, including genealogy research, writing individual histories and scrapbooking. I have homeschooled my children for six years, including Kindergarten through 7th grade, though they are currently attending public school.

When I search the web, it is generally with a specific topic in mind, from parenting to freelance writing, from health to family history research, and points in between.
