I have been a professional science writer for the past three years. I hold a B.S. in magazine journalism and a Master's in Earth Sciences, specifically focusing on marine paleoecology.
I was assistant editor for Geotimes magazine, published by the American Geological Institute and I have worked in science communications for the non-profit sector, as both employee and volunteer, creating newsletters and other marketing materials. I have been a newspaper reporter and a park ranger at the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument in Colorado, and a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor.
I won the Woseley Award for Excellence in Magazine Journalism, the James S. Krydyna Field Camp award and the John J. Prucha Award for Scientific Research.
Additionally I enjoy writing creative memoir and have published several including my most recent, "Small Things Considered," on CommonTies.com.
