Louise Harris has worked in the journalism field since she graduated in 1989 from the University of Maryland College of Journalism. She is an expert on environmental reporting, including recycling, clean water, hazardous waste and wastewater treatment. She has covered local governments, states and federal agencies. In addition, Louise has edited 10-page newsletters, laid out the copy and proofread hers and colleagues’ work. As editor, she was responsible for all reporting, editing, page-layout, marketing and news content. Her work appeared in Clean Water Report, Hazardous Waste/Superfund Week, The Corps Report, The Maryland Report, Maryland Procurement Report, Sludge, State Recycling Laws Update, Recycling Laws International, American Waste Digest, Howard County Times and AssociatedContent.com. She has written columns on recycling, book reviews and community events.
She has arranged book signings, corporate and community parties, and interviews. Louise has written press releases, called radio stations and newspapers, and designed brochures and newsletters. In 2006, Louise published her first fiction novel, The 1776 Scroll. She won the Editor’s Choice Award for Poetry and is named in the book of 2007 Best Poets by Poetry.com. She published her first poem at age 12 and wrote a song at age eight.
