Writing has always been an enjoyable activity for me. Although I don't journal about my personal life, I have always enjoyed writing, whether it was for school, work, or volunteer activities. It helps me to focus on what I've learned -- and sometimes, what I should have learned. So, participating in Suite101 is an exciting endeavor for me; I'm looking forward to writing on a regular basis again.
My writing experiences are nearly as varied as the topics found at Suite101. As a former museum curator, I've written about art and history -- both the past and present day. The museum setting requires you to write exhibit label text, newsletter articles, and publications such as brochures and catalogs. The challenge there was to synthesize your research and make it relevant to a public audience, and at times, to write for an academic audience. So, you wear lots of hats, which I enjoy!
Other writing experiences includes preparing marketing proposals for an architecture firm, to the present day, where I am enjoying writing short articles for local publications, including Kansas City Parent Magazine and the Kansas City Star newspaper.
