I was first published at fifteen-years old in Teen Ink magazine for a story I wrote entitled "The Dragonfly Kiss." From then on, things seemed to take off.
The summer after my freshman year of high school, I was accepted into and attended the Iowa Young Writer's Studio, a writing workshop directed towards talented individuals wishing to pursue writing as a career. I also was accepted into (but did not attend) writing programs at Boston University, University of Chicago, and Interlochen Arts Camp near Traverse City, MI.
I applied and was accepted into the Teen Star program for the Kansas City Star newspaper and was active in the program until I moved away from the area. I worked on my high school newspaper and was promoted to Managing Editor in my junior year.
I have been published in Teen Voices magazine for a piece on Sexual Harrassment, a.k.a Street Harrassment. Since then, I have been published on Teen Ink Raw several times, the online version of the magazine. I won an honorable mention in a statewide essay contest supported by Center of the Book.
As a freshman in college, I wrote for the feminist literary magazine, Technobabe Times, during my first semester and The Daily Bull, a humorous literary magazine. I currently write and copy edit for the major campus newspaper, The Lode. I also recently aquired an online writing job with Project Popwall and have joined the staff of the national literary magazine, Pank, as an editorial assistant.
