Writer
Choir practice, Dr. Lina Ng

Kris Lee has made a mid-career switch to freelance writing, and does not have any published/printed works to-date.

Prior to this, in the course of his previous occupations, he has written press releases for Singapore Airlines Ltd. and prepared policy papers on land use and carried out urban planning for Urban Redevelopment Authority, the national planning authority.

Kris has also prepared and written reports relating to research work done in the field of social and cultural geography, including:

  • Issues and challenges faced by freelancers in the creative industries.
  • Value of arts and culture.
  • Developmental issues for an integrated live-work-play project; and
  • History and development of hawker centres in Singapore.

His stint with the Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore, has given him the opportunity to better understand the archaeology, history, culture and social development of Asia (especially China).

In his personal capacity, Kris has written to forum pages of the local dailies on social issues, such as retirement villages for the elderly, corporate governance for charity organisations, protection and promotion of minority rights and the need for proper sex education for teenagers and youths.

Last but not least, having been a volunteer with AFA, the local HIV/AIDS association for the past few years, Kris has written articles on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other sexually-transmitted infections (STIs), as well as the practice of safer sex. His article Practising Safer Sex has received an Editors Choice Award.
