Martin Parr and Gerry Badger's huge tome on the photobook.
Kiki Anderson writes about music at Here to Hear. She has written about art for Utne Reader and Street Cave and her poetry has appeared in publications such as Baltimore Is Reads, Gam, and Antennae. In addition to writing, she translates regularly from French to English for l'école des loisirs. Subjects Kiki has taught include art, French, creative writing, art history, and English. Her students have ranged in age from three to eighty and have included élite French teens, middle school dropouts, TV anchors and priests. For five years Kiki ran Jody Monroe Gallery with her sister. In addition to showing work in a variety of media by artists such as Naomi Uman, Amanda Ross-Ho and Stephanie Barber, they hosted a poetry series curated first by Stacy Szymaszek and then by Roberto Harrison. They also had occasional film screenings at their space. Bands Kiki used to play bass with include the obscure but scandalous XKS and hard pop-synth group Master Zaster Blaster. She has also studied violin and fiddle. Fluent in French and pretty good at Spanish, she can read and write Thai as well as speak it, and has also studied Latin, Zulu, and Turkish. She has lived in Milwaukee, New York, Paris, Chicago and Bangkok and prefers to walk, ride a bicycle, or take a boat when traveling. |
