Ken Goldstein - Profile

Ken was born in Boston, MA, July 1961. He was dragged out to California thirteen years later and decided he liked it sometime around 1984 (which, coincidentally, coincided with his leaving Los Angeles and heading north).

He received his BA in Politics from UC Santa Cruz, then went to do the graduate student thing at CSU Sacramento (MPPA - Master of Public Policy and Administration). Ken currently lives in Los Gatos, CA, with his wife, Leslie. His interests include writing, music, politics, and wine.

Ken and Leslie have no children, but live with their cat, George, in a lovely house among the giant redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains, outside San Jose.

Ken is currently an Assistant Director at EHC LifeBuilders, Santa Clara County's largest provider of shelter and services to the area's homeless population. He's been in the nonprofit and local government sector since 1989, working in a variety of issue areas, but keeps returning to the basics: food and shelter.

Ken is also a member of the Future Families board of directors, and chairs their fund development committee. Future Families is an adoption and foster child agency that serves abused and difficult to place children and their families with therapeutic services.

Ken likes to write short fiction and creative memoirs. He also writes about political issues that are important to him, and occasionally on lighter topics. Ken's first book, "Aaron's Intifada and Other Short Stories," was published in the Spring of 2002 and can be ordered from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, & iUniverse.
