Life is a series of adventures. I'm not happy unless I'm trying something new or getting myself into some mess to laugh about later.
I am currently working on my first novel, Casa de Fruta, or Passion Fruit, the story of an American teacher and what she learns from a Brazilian fisherman who turns her world upside down.
My first travel adventure was in college when I walked the Camino to Santiago, a pilgrimage through France and Spain. I started alone but quickly befriended a Portuguese man, a German girl, an Italian girl and a Spanish guy. We didn't even all speak the same language but, with a common goal, we came together and supported one another. Following college I lived a year in South Korea where the first word I happened to blurt out was Son-of-aB@#$* when I excited pointed out a group of cute puppies to my director. Then I ended up in Brazil where part of my heart still lies--in the music, the landscape, and the friendly folk.
