I graduated with a degree in English Education and French in 2004 from Illinois State University. Since then, I've taught high school English and French in the United States where I soon developed itchy feet and flew to Europe to teach English while traveling extensively.
In 2005, I completed a Cambridge CELTA course in Budapest which gave me both creative and useful ideas to teach English to non-native speakers. In no time, I fell in love with Hungary and didn't leave for two years. While there, I taught conversational English to children and teenagers at both primary and secondary schools in Budapest and a small town in northeastern Hungary.
In 2007 I taught mostly children, but had the opportunity to work with older students preparing for English exams and adults at a language school in Valladolid, Spain. While there, I completed a course on teaching ESL to Young Learners and obtained many fun activities and lessons. As a fairly new teacher, I've learned that it's important to ask for help and that's why I love helping others who enter the profession. Lesson ideas that grab the attention of every student and successful classroom management strategies are gold and need to shared!
My next adventure will take me to a small town near Lyon, France, where I'll begin another teaching assignment in a primary school. I travel whenever I can and write about it whenever I get the chance. I love blogging about my experiences, the places, the food, the cultural moments and enjoy comparing the little differences between countries and the people in them.
