It is not unusual to find her working as a cabin leader at one summer camp before heading off to another for a month-long volunteer post as a cook. She takes Karate classes with her son while her youngest is a competitive gymnast.

Ms. Emms has a Print Journalism and an Interactive Multimedia diploma from Canadore College as well as a Small Business Management diploma from Mohawk College. Currently she is working on a Bachelor of Theology degree from Thorneloe University while she continues to write.
