Resource for Travel in Argentina and Paraguay – Unique Hotels in Patagonia, Córdoba , Asunción
Two passions dominate my life: traveling and writing. In 2003 Coen and I stored ten boxes of "previous life" safely in our parents' attics while selling everything else we owned. We swapped our safe, well-regulated, suburban lives for an ongoing adventure in our antique LandCruiser BJ45.
Driving From Holland to Asia and South-America
A different world and a new way of living opened up for us – and with that the passion to explore, hear, feel, smell and taste unexplored territories, unfamiliar cultures, unknown faces and untold stories. During the last six years we drove from Holland to Vietnam visiting many countries in between [Iran, Pakistan, India, Bhutan, Laos and Cambodia – to name a few]. In 2007, our non-stop overland adventure brought us the Americas where we are currently exploring Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile.
Publications in Four-wheel Drive Magazines and Newspaper
Four years ago our first publication in a four-wheel drive magazine in Holland [4WD&SUV magazine] resulted in an almost monthly contribution – Coen providing images, I writing the articles. Other four-wheel drive magazines followed and we now regularly publish articles in the United States [Toyota Trails], Poland [WYPRAWY 4x4], Hungary [4x4magazine], Belgium [4x4 ACTIVE magazine], Japan [4x4 MAGAZINE] as well as in Europe's biggest 4WD magazine Auto Bild Allrad [Germany]. Examples of these articles can be found on the publication page of our website. As a travel correspondent for the Dutch newspaper "De Volkskrant" I weekly blog about our journey in South America.
More Stories About South America
Naturally I have many more tales to tell and extraordinary travel tips to contribute to the site. As a Feature Writer for South America I will focus my stories on the South American continent: whale watching in Argentina; exploring intricately ornamented Franciscan churches in Paraguay; visiting the world's largest open-pit copper mine in Chile, staring in wonder at colourful shrines of folk-saints in Argentina; discovering the unexplored corners of the 'Carretera Austral' in Chile. These are just a few stories that come to mind. I can't wait to share them with you on Suite101!
