I am a specialist in the literature of the nineteenth century, in particular, poetry. I have just completed a thesis on the life and work of Mary Elizabeth Coleridge, a poet, essayist and novelist of the period and the great-great niece of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I spent four years teaching English Undergraduates at the University of Hull in England where I specialised in Victorian Literature and Literary Theory. I am the author of a new section on Mary Elizabeth Coleridge on Brown University's Victorian Web: www.victorianweb.org/authors/index.html. Publications and Works in Progress: I am currently preparing two book proposals - a monograph of Mary Coleridge's life, and a new, annotated edition of her poetry. 'A new wilderness: memory and language in the television science fiction of Nigel Kneale', Journal of Science Fiction Film and Television, 1:1, March 2008. Co-written with Dave Rolinson. "What was that shadow on the wall?" Art, Murder & Homoerotic Desire in the Fin de Siecle Fiction of Mary Elizabeth Coleridge. [Article: 2007] Work in progress. 'I am but a little maiden still.' Representations of the Female Body & Materiality in the Work of Mary Coleridge. [Conference Paper: Oxford University 2008] |
