JOHN D. WILKINS, PH.D.
John is an avid writer, teacher and researcher with a creative mind. He enjoys non-fiction reading and writing and enjoys exploring the outdoors with his Wife. He is excited about drawing these individuals toward his discussions on culture and power. As the globe is transformed by the nano-second, John hopes readers like you will ride with him on a journey of societal exploration.
Dr. Wilkins' academic, laboratory work and corporate experiences are extensive. He holds a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in Sociology, an M.A. in Criminology from George Mason University and a B.S. in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University. John has over 12 years of social research experience and more than 11 years spent at a Virginia pharmaceutical corporation. The latter work allowed him to experience the culture of reorganization, corporate deviance, and the outbreak of a deadly virus in his workplace (documented in Richard Preston's "The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story, 1994. Random House, Inc. 1st ed.). These life experiences have transformed his writing and given him a multitude of unique perspectives on life and living.
John has traveled to Japan, Britain, Canada & every U.S. State and has had extended stays in Tokyo & Tsukuba, Japan; Blacksburg, Virginia; Snowflake, Arizona; the U.S. Gulf Coast, as well as Dutch Harbor and Anchorage, Alaska.
His interviews of Nobel Laureates in Physics and countless laboratory workers around the globe have led his pen to reflect his observations on social life. John's passion is observing, interviewing and writing about "real people" in the context of daily life. Dr. Wilkins' writing background includes several book reviews, one published in a peer-reviewed academic journal and several others in online e-journals. In addition, he has published a Master's Thesis and a Dissertation. Each of these latter publications contain both qualitative and quantitative analyses focusing on culture and behavior.
