Although a New Yorker for 20-plus years, my roots are in Rhode Island. Travel writing is in my blood and began with my first trip to Ireland decades ago. Once published, I went on to create the "Travel Buys" shopping column in the Chicago Sun-Times for five years and other national newspapers. Countless articles followed until my focus narrowed in on Spain. But I'm open to all destinations. I'm known for my detail and discerning eye that's always searching out the local flavor. With Internet travel writing the new norm, the challenge is to relay that undeniable sense of place through shorter paragraphs, all with impact intended to keep my readers informed.
