• Working closely with the A’s to produce player profiles and content tailored to the team’s fan base.

• Doing page layout in Quark Express for the Sports Section each day.

• Part of CHIPS Quinn scholarship program

• One of over 40 journalists of color placed with newspapers around the country.

• Duties include General assignment reporting and covering the California Rodeo in Salinas.

Copy Desk at the Register-Pajaronian, January ’08-May‘08

• Responsible for all copy-editing duties at the newspaper.

• Verified names, dates, and all other information for ever single story

• Made sure that everything conformed with AP style

• Also manned the police scanner for breaking news around South Santa Cruz County.

Editor for City on a Hill Press, Campus Desk, Spring Quarter ’07 & Winter ‘08

• Responsible for managing and editing 4 writers in each quarter for the campus weekly newspaper

• Contributed four clips, one feature, and two editorials each quarter.

• Helped launch an investigative desk that seeks to examine improprieties within the University of California.

Intern UC Sacramento Program

• Covered the 2006 midterm elections for the UC Sacramento Program.

• Closely followed three different statewide campaigns as apart of a joint project between the UC and various organizations witiin the state capital.

• Wrote three thousand word profiles on winning candidates that have been published in the 2007-2008 California Political Almanac.

Writer for City on a Hill Press, Campus desk/Contributing Writer, Sept ‘04-‘January 06

• Contributed eight clips and two features requirement for every quarter.

• Wrote clips and features for the Campus desk. Each clip had a three source requirement and five for features.

• Broached complex topics like campus labor issues and issues of racial inequality.

• Two cover worthy features one dealing with a scientific breakthrough to help fight SARS and another dealing with the impact of budget cuts on Academic Preparation Programs.

Writing tutor for Learning Support Services at UC Santa Cruz, Sept ’05-April ’08

• Tutored student struggling with university level writing in both group and individual sessions.

• Prerequisite classes for tutoring included a class on teaching pedagogy (Writing-159) and on teaching basic grammar (Writing-169).

• Dealt mostly with students struggling with second language issues in writing.
