Joseph began freelance writing and working as an independent consultant in early 2009 upon returning to Vancouver, British Columbia after having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area in California for over 10 years.
Joseph has been in the global mobility consulting profession for over 10 years providing human resources, tax, and payroll advice to corporations with globally mobile employees on international assignments. He helps employees on assignments to navigate complex individual tax matters. Joseph spoke at various human resources and international mobility conferences on the tax impacts to employers and employees from international business travel.
Joseph worked with two professional accounting firms in Vancouver and in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as a leading semi-conductor manufacturer in the Silicon Valley as its in-house global mobility consultant.
Joseph graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is a Canadian Chartered Accountant and an I.R.S. Enrolled Agent.
His return to Canada involves downsizing from a 1,600 square-foot city home in San Jose to a condo of less than 520 square feet in downtown Vancouver. He is enjoying a simpler living that allows him, his partner and their shiba-inu to contribute to a greener living experience.
