Jonathan Barnes is a lifelong fisherman with a passion for all forms of angling. In 1999 he was the English National Rivers Fly Fishing Champion and subsequently won a team gold medal with the England Rivers Fly Fishing Team in 2000. He has contributed articles to popular and widely read fly fishing magazines including Trout and Salmon. He has been interviewed about his fishing skills on both BBC TV and radio and travelled extensively including in the USA, Canada, most of Europe, Japan and India where he currently conducts his research. He has a PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry and in 2006 appeared on Fox TV (USA) to discuss the implications of Climate Change. His expertise is based on 15 years in the field and many publications including first author in high ranking peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Geophysical Research Letters. His other interests (when time allows!!) include Marine Biology (first degree), Mountain Biking, preparing and eating food, fine wines and playing pool and snooker.
