Jennifer’s passion for fitness and nutrition began when she started weight training in 1998. Since that time she has researched and studied strength training and nutrition extensively and how what we eat affects the body both inside and out. She is a Certified Lifestyle and Weight Management Specialist, and since beginning her writing career has written hundreds of articles on the subject of health and wellness. Her recipes have been published in print newsletters, and her first-person essay written on the topic of grief has been published in Hospice newsletters in two states. Jennifer was at one time the Healthy Foods Editor for BellaOnline.com, and came to Suite101.com in January of 2008. In April of 2008, she was promoted to Nutrition Feature Writer here at Suite101.com and writes on a variety of topics in addition to nutrition. Jennifer has operated her own home-based transcription business since 2002, providing transcription services to court reporters, administrative and criminal courts, and other government agencies. She also works part-time as the Administrator/Head Moderator of one of the largest work-at-home mom websites on the ‘net. Jennifer shares her home in the mountains of West Virginia with two young daughters, a husband, and three cats. She and her family enjoy taking road trips, traveling to various destinations within the Mountain State to take in the beauty and culture that makes her home state so unique and special. As a nontraditional student (and at a snail's pace), she has completed 88 hours of college coursework at West Virginia University with a major in psychology and a minor in English, making both the Dean’s and President’s List several times and received the College of Arts & Sciences Certificate of Academic Excellence, which are some of her most treasured accomplishments. Jennifer loves to read and spend time with her family. Her hobbies and interests include playing acoustic guitar, collecting Fenton glass, and talking politics.
