Jessica Spengler
Suite101.com Contributing Writer
I've been writing since I was seven years old. There's very little that I haven't tried my hand in - poetry, short stories, novels, and journalism are just a few - and I have enjoyed all of them.
Right now, I'm trying to find my place in the writing world. In August of 2008, I graduated with a degree in Communication from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. My emphasis was in Media Studies, and my main focus was print journalism. While going to school, I worked as a reporter for both my school newspaper and a small weekly publication called The Everest Herald, out of Wausau, Wis.
Before and during school, I worked as a bartender at a local pub in Wausau. While there, I found I had a talent and passion for the art of drink mixing as well as finding a connection with people. Also during this time, I realized that I enjoy writing about these two subjects. Often, my articles will center around one or both of these subjects. I also enjoy writing about religion, crime and pop culture. I've recently started dabbling in writing about technology, and I find that I enjoy that as well.
Right now, I am currently living in New York City and looking for a job in media. I am also working on a novel for National Novel Writing Month during November 2009. I appreciate the opportunities that Suite101 has given me. I enjoy having the freedom to research and write about subjects that interest me. I look forward to continuing on with the site!
