Growing up in a small town like Whitefish Falls, Ontario, one needs a vivid imagination to keep occupied. Imagination was something I did not lack as a child.
It was my imagination that led me to become interested in creative writing, beginning to write poetry and short stories at a very young age. However, it was my thirst for knowledge and the need to know what other people’s lives were like, that called me into the world of journalism.
In the fall of 2003, I enrolled in the journalism program at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, where I wrote for the school’s newspaper, The Shield. It was here I gained powerful mentors whose words will always be with me.
I graduated from the program in 2005 and still live and work in Sudbury. At the age of 25, I hope to have a career that will encompass print journalism, literature and broadcasting.
