I realized that I enjoyed writing during my senior year in high school. I remember it well. English suddenly became a highly-interesting subject for me and I looked forward to essay-writing the most. But I still wanted to major in Business or Economics in college, and so went that route for a while, only to find myself back in an English class, listening to lecture, wanting to express myself in words on paper.
It is the freedom writing affords us that draws me to it. I am not a wordsmith, but rather, someone who just enjoys writing, writing down every thought that comes into my head and sometimes, without structure, without logic. If it makes sense to some, I am happy. If it seems like nonsense to others, I accept that.
I went to Berkeley and graduated in 1998, majored in English with a minor in Creative Writing. After school, I freelanced a bit but soon after, entered the dot-com world. I wasn't part of the boom. I arrived when it began to wane a little, but still, I got to see much of the glory that once was... and still might be. Of course, the dot-com world might never recapture its power of a few years back, but it isn't going anywhere either. The Internet is here to stay and I'm glad to be a part of it. It is such a liberating medium with such incredible reach. I love the fact that what I write can be accessed by readers all over the world. Again, some may connect to it and some may not, but just the idea that we can communicate with such ease is a wonder to me.
Other hobbies include movies. Here I hope to combine my passion for writing, appreciation of literature, and love of film into an interesting, thought-provoking topic, one that makes us think out loud, and of course, with each other.
