Jem Bloomfield was educated at Oxford University, where he studied English literature at Bachelor's and Master's level, specialising in Renaissance drama. He is the author of two produced plays, one of which, "Bewick Gaudy", won the Cameron Mackintosh Award for New Writing. His literary and cultural essays have appeared in publications such as "Isis", "California Literary Review" and "Renaissance Magazine".
