Jan Czech
Literary Culture Feature Writer
Jan M. Czech has published seven children's books; three picture books, three non fiction books and a middle grade novel. Her work has appeared in The Buffalo News where she was a feature writer and Roots and Wings where she had a regular column. She was a frequent contributor to Western New York Family Magazine and still contributes to The Children's Writer.
Before becoming a full time writer, Czech spent 16 years as a middle school English and Language Arts teacher. She is now an instructor for The Institute of Children's Literature.
She enjoys reading, knitting, gardening and traveling with her husband of 35 years.
Czech lives in Western Massachusetts with her husband, Greg, their Great Dane, Floyd and two cats, Evil and Clark.
She is a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and the Association of Professional Women Writers.
