As Jamie’s landscape has changed through the years to accommodate four pets and three children under the age of two, she gained a new appreciation for eliminating chemicals in her home and garden. She has spent the last 12 years turning her typical suburban plot into a natural garden filled with blooms and birdsong. Jamie welcomes you to a community on Suite 101 where all kinds of visitors who embrace organic gardening can find advice and feel at home, whether amateur or professional grower. Jamie aims to debunk the frequently held notion that organic gardening means always having to choose an austere or ineffectual course of action.
Jamie’s undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Science in Interpersonal Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Florida State University. In addition to her background in the allied health sciences, Jamie is interested in the way the art and science of communication informs all our endeavors. In 2001, she received a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas. She worked as a cancer educator for seven years, and left the health field to pursue a freelance writing career after having twins.
